Submitting Reference Letters

Nominators are asked to submit up to two reference letters with the nomination form. The nominator and nominee cannot act as one of the referees. The referees should describe how the nominee's work has demonstrated one or more of the selection criteria. The reference letter must include the contact information for the referee. The referee(s) will only be contacted if two or more nominees are assigned the same score based on the selection criteria. The referee(s) will be asked to comment on an additional selection criterion not included in the nomination form - passion for the field of evaluation.

Before You Submit the Nomination Form

  • Consult with other people (even the nominee!) who can speak to the nominee's work and offer additional examples of how the nominee fulfills the selection criteria. This will ensure the Selection Committee is presented with a comprehensive view of the nominee.

  • Check to ensure you have provided well-documented, detailed descriptions and specific examples of how the nominee fulfills each selection criteria. The Selection Committee can only assess the nominee based on what information is included in the nomination form and reference letters.

  • Check that you have provided clear and well-written information about the nominee (e.g., complete sentences and not bullet points).

  • Consider whether you have made the nominee shine.
