CONFERENCE OVERVIEW

⚓ WHEN:

May 27–28, 2026 at the Waterfront Centre, Hamilton, ON

Title: Exploring New Horizons and Charting a Course for Public Health

Goal: Participants will enhance their ability to effectively respond to emerging public health issues and navigate the evolving public health landscape in Ontario.

Objectives:

• Share innovative methodologies in population health assessment, surveillance, performance measurement, and evaluation.

• Promote continuous quality improvement and strategies for efficiency and effectiveness in public health practice.

• Explore strategies for adapting to the changing public health context and responding to emerging public health issues.

• Strengthen cross-disciplinary connections and knowledge exchange through sharing examples of work, self-reflection, and lessons learned.

🌅 WHAT TO EXPECT:

This year, we’re charting a fresh course!

• Mid-week conference (no weekend voyaging required!)

• Round tables (no lecture halls—just smooth sailing!)

• No long-distance trekking (except optional refreshing waterfront walks!)

• Cozy hotel rooms ⚓

• And spectacular networking with all your favourite public health shipmates!

🧭 HOW TO REGISTER

1. Prepare your crew details:

Each attendee will need to answer the following during registration.
(If someone else is registering for you, pass along your answers before they embark!)

a. Your organization (as you want it to appear on your name tag)
b. Your job title (as you want it to appear on your name tag)
c. Any food allergies or accommodations (e.g., vegan, gluten-free)
d. Will you attend dinner at the Electric Diner on Tuesday, May 26 at 6:30pm? (Not included in registration fee.)
e. Will you attend the cocktail hour + reception on Wednesday, May 27 at 5:30pm? (Included in registration fee.)
f. Any other specific needs or requests we should know about.

Hotel booking:

PLEASE NOTE: we have a limited number of rooms blocked off at the Sheraton Hamilton Hotel (only 30 per night). We encourage people to RESERVE HOTEL ROOMS in advance!  Most hotels will cancel without a fee, so better safe than sorry!

The Waterfront Centre is a 6-minute drive from the downtown cluster of hotels, including the Sheraton Hamilton Hotel.  If someone is travelling via public transportation, we hope through networking we can arrange for people to carpool from the hotel(s) to the Waterfront Centre.
